Qualification Purpose
The qualification (Diploma in Adult Care Level) develops the knowledge, skills and competence of learners working in a wide
range of roles in a health and social care setting. Learners must be in paid or voluntary work to
enable assessment to take place.
The purpose of the qualification is to support a role in the workplace and to enable learners to
progress to a higher level qualification in the same subject area.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of level two
in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
The recommended minimum age for this qualification is 16 years.
Progression
Successful learners can progress to other qualifications such as:
• Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care
• Level 5 Certificate in Leading and Managing Services to Support End of Life and
Significant Life Events
• Lead Adult Care Apprenticeships.
Successful learners can apply for job roles such as:
• Care home worker
• Lead Adult Care worker
Structure
Learners must achieve all credits from all mandatory units. Additionally, they must achieve 19
credits from optional units.
More than 50% of the credits must be at level 3 or above.

This qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in a lead adult care worker role in care settings. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health and social care procedures. This qualification also aligns to the Apprenticeship Standard for Lead Adult Care Worker.
Course Content
This programme has a requirement to achieve a total of 58 credits for the Diploma, with 35 of these credits being at Level 3 or above. All learners must complete the 9 mandatory units listed below, thereby achieving a total of 28 credits and a minimum of 30 credits from the optional units
